Pisces Full Moon

Full Moon in Pisces - Within Everything, There is Nothing

The Full Moon invites us to embrace the balancing of opposites. This evening at 9:32pm PST the Sun in Virgo opposes the Moon moon in Pisces at the 21st degree. The energy of Virgo has been building for the last few weeks with the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars all traveling together.

Virgo is Earth- it is focused, precise and detail-oriented. Pisces is water- it is romantic, creative, and non-linear. Virgo and Pisces are both symbols of change and renewal- Virgo is the time between summer and autumn, and Pisces is the time between winter and spring. Virgo and Pisces hold the wisdom of the seasons: of life, death, and rebirth. This process of transformation is deeply healing.

Virgo heals our physical and mental bodies- connecting us to our health, our environment, and our state of mind. Pisces heals the spirit- allowing us to open our hearts to forgiveness, compassion, and empathy.

The end of a cycle marks the time of release. As we courageously let go of our desire to control, we open ourselves to infinite possibilities. Virgo and Pisces remind us that everything is temporary.

Everything as we know it in form will end. Everything will transform. Everything will begin again.

Embracing the spiritual truth of impermanence gives us the ability to be present in both love and suffering. This Full Moon is an opportunity to ask yourself what needs healing- to show up whole-heartedly for the pain that surfaces, without succumbing to a tendency to escape.

This is a moment to stay with our feelings, to remember that they will pass, and to connect with that which is sacred to us.

Aquarius Full Moon

Align Your Self, Your Heart, and Your Mind: Full Moon in Aquarius

Every astrological season, the moon wanes to new and waxes to full, bringing the sun and moon into alignment and then into opposition. At the new moon, the sun and moon align- the night sky is dark and we are drawn inwards. At the full moon, the sun and moon are in opposition- illuminating the night sky. Oppositions bring clarity and help us to see things objectively.

The Sun in Leo brings our awareness into the energy of the lion- bold, passionate, and highly creative. Leo is the energy of self-expression. The Moon in Aquarius brings our emotions into a more detached space- where we think and intellectualize our feelings rather than express them outwardly.

Leo is the sign of the individual. Aquarius is the sign of the collective.

Leo is of personal love. Aquarius is conceptual love.

The Sun conjunct Venus in Leo connect who we are with what we desire. When our heart aligns with our center, we can shine brightly and fearlessly. But when our hearts have been broken, the energy of Aquarius can give us the ability to see the heartbreak without becoming consumed by it.

Leo rules the heart and the spine- it is our central axis. Aquarius rules the nervous system- sending messages from the brain to different parts of the body.

This is a time to reconnect: your self with your heart, and your mind with your spirit. It is time to heal your heart and come into alignment.

Leo reminds us of our expansiveness, our generosity and our great capacity to love. Aquarius reminds us that we are all connected to each other, and that our minds have incredible healing power.

Acknowledge the past, see the wound, but don’t allow it to define you. Trust that you are worthy of the purest love- and that you are already healing.

Summer Solstice

Summer Solstice

On the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, we celebrate the solstice. The sun moves into the sign of Cancer tomorrow morning on the west coast, marking the beginning of summer. Cancer is the sign of the home, of family and our sense of belonging. Cancer is intuitive, emphatic and protective. But its energy can also be overly cautious, moody and defensive. Just as a crab’s shell protects what is of most importance, Cancer can have a hard exterior.

Ruled by the moon, Cancer’s energy changes, shifts, and moves in a circuitous way. With Mercury and Mars already moving through the sign of the crab, our minds and our desires have already been infused with this energy.

The north node of the ecliptic is also in the sign of Cancer, so while the sun moves through Cancer, we will have two eclipses. Eclipses occur when the path of the Earth orbiting around the sun intersects with the moon’s orbit around the Earth. Symbolically, the north node is thought to be the direction that we are moving towards and striving for. On a collective level, this means we are in need of more connection, vulnerability and empathy.

The south node is in Cancer’s opposite sign: Capricorn. Capricorn is the sign of worldly ambitions, of rules, and of traditions. If Cancer is the energy we need when we are feeling hurt or broke, Capricorn is the energy that keeps us grounded and level. We need both: unconditional love as well as structure. Love cannot thrive and grow without healthy boundaries. Cancer and Capricorn both have the ability to build walls. Cancer brings emotional inclusivity, but also has the potential to shut down and have its guard up. Capricorn holds traditions and boundaries in place, but can be stoic and detached.

For the next four weeks, the Cancer-Capricorn axis will be highly activated. Mars moved into Cancer on May 15, and Mercury moved into Cancer on June 4. Saturn has been in Capricorn since December 2017, and Pluto has been there since 2008. Cancer season will bring unexpected shifts, encouraging us to move through layers of fear and uncertainty. Cancer season also holds the second of three Mercury retrogrades of 2019. On the surface June has appeared to have forward momentum, but July will bring a time of reflection and reprocessing.

This is not a time to fear or to isolate. It is important to remember that everything is energy: every thought, every emotion, everything we can see, and everything we cannot see. Summer is a time of abundance and manifestation. The sunlight allows us to access our inner radiance and shine from our hearts.

Celebrate the solstice by connecting to nature, and allowing your inner light to shine.

Check in with the heart

Check in with the heart

Tomorrow the moon makes its way from new to full- the sun’s light will reflect on half of the face of the moon. The first quarter moon is a time of reckoning- what seeds did you plant at the new moon last weekend? As the moon waxes to full, it is a time to continue to build on what we have started- or to course correct and take a different path.

When the moon is at its first quarter, it is making a square aspect to the sun: the sun in Taurus is 4 signs away from the moon in Leo- making a 90º angle. When two planetary bodies are in aspect to one another, it simply means there is an energetic relationship dynamic- some aspects are easy, others are more difficult.

Taurus is the middle of spring- it is the Earth element at its fullest expression. Leo is the middle of summer- it is the fire element in its fullest expression. The moon moved into Leo today and will perfect in its square aspect to the sun in Taurus tomorrow, meaning, they will be exactly 90º away from one another.

A square aspect is considered to be dynamic and sometimes challenging. Taurus and Leo both hold the middle of seasons in tropical astrology- meaning they are both ‘fixed’ signs. The sun in Taurus has been bringing our conscious awareness to our desires, our values, and our embodied experiences. The moon in Leo is bringing our emotional awareness to our creativity, self-expression, and pleasure. The energy of Leo is warm, generous and radiant.

The first quarter is a change to reevaluate and notice what isn’t working. As you continue to work towards your goals and dreams, take a few moments over the next couple of days and listen to your heart. Feel your heart beating. Ask yourself if you are expressing yourself from a heart-centered space. This is a time to bring your goals into alignment with your creativity.

What is your heart saying?

Listen.
